We Made It

After 40 hours of driving, pee breaks, two hotel stays and meals, Noah and I made it to Troy, New York. We drove out in a brand new Penske truck that only had 1,000 miles on it. It was by no means comfortable, but we made it work and got about 15 miles per gallon! We drove through many states, but stayed in Springfield, Missouri and Columbus, Ohio. It was such a beautiful drive, so much greenery, cows, horses and road kill (not beautiful). On the last leg of the trip we hit a pretty bad storm that we were apparently driving with so we had to pull off and hang for a bit so it passed. Thanks to Noah's dad who walked us through that storm and got us safe.

When we made it to the apartment that we set up to move into on the 10th of June we were fairly disappointed. We showed up to an apartment that wasn't ready for us to move into at all. We were also extremely hungry, tired and annoyed from the 40 hour drive. Thank goodness Noah had a back up apartment he'd been living in the past two years so we crashed there a few days until our apartment was ready for us. We got all of our stuff in thanks to Noah's friends and the past few weeks have been focused on making it homey. I didn't realize how much stuff you need to feel comfortable in a new space, but after many Target trips we have made it pretty cozy.

(If you know where those names are from you're awesome :)

Homesickness hasn't been too much of a hardship yet; of course I miss my family, friends and Albuquerque in general, but I've definitely accepted that this is my new home. When I was thinking about living here I was looking forward to being here, but didn't really think through that I'd be home alone when Noah was at work. That's been the hardest part of the adjustment. I'm so used to being a team player, I like working and helping out. I don't start school until the end of August so I have a few months to put some time in somewhere. I had an interview and am hopeful that something pans out soon (fingers crossed).

There isn't too much to update, just been really enjoying being with my fiance. We have been playing lots of Wii, cooking together everyday, enjoying the farmers market that happens every weekend. Just catching up for the two years of lost time :)

Hope everyone is doing great and everyone in Albuquerque, now that I'm no longer there I definitely do appreciate the sunset pictures :D

Lots of love!

One month left

Wowza... a lot has changed since the last time I wrote. All good things I would say. Just because I love lists.. I think I'll write it all out in a list.

  • Noah and I are now engaged as of March 21st, 2015

  • I have heard back about my financial aid for school and just knowing that I won't be out thousands of dollars after I graduate is a huge weight off of my shoulders.

  • We now have an apartment in Troy, yep we signed a lease and everything :)
  • We have our route from Albuquerque to Troy mapped out as well as the hotels we'll be staying at along the way.

It's all becoming so real. 35 days from now, Noah and I will be on our way to Troy with all of our belongings ready to start our new life. I feel like I've been preparing my whole life for this. I'll be attending a university that hopefully challenges me, moving in with someone I love with all my heart and can't imagine having a better partner, moving out of the city that has become my comfort zone and all I know. I'm filled with a lot of different emotions, sooo excited, nervous, anxious, ready. I think the most rewarding part of this journey will be finally, after two years ending the long distance portion of Noah and my relationship and finally finishing my degree. I never thought it would come. I feel like a young 24 year old, what I mean by that is most people at 24 have their degree, have a job or a career, and maybe a family (I guess not all that is always true, it's relative). Unfortunately I've had to put things on hold a little bit, but it's all part of life and helps us grow. Another part of this journey that I'm nervous about is being homesick, because of my health problems I had to move in with my parents and have loved being able to spend all this extra time with them. They are such an integral part of my life and it's going to be challenging to not see them for six months, thank goodness for Skype! That being said, I'm also really excited to see what happens for them. It's definitely going to be a growing transition for all of us Wilding's as we take on our new ventures.

I am so grateful for all the love and support that both myself and Noah have received during this exciting time and am looking forward to sharing more with you. I've always dreamed of what it would be like to be someone's "someone" and it is the most amazing feeling ever. Every morning I wake up feeling so lucky, even though Noah's not here with me, he's always on my mind. Long distance has been one of the hardest things I've taken on, but I would go through it again and again if it meant I'd have Noah in my life.

Stay tuned for our big move of 2015 :) should be one hell of a ride.

Lots of love

Inspired

Just finished watching Julie and Julia and am feeling truly inspired. I've been feeling like I've been going through the motions lately and I really want to start actually LIVING my life. I know that sounds so clique, but I truly mean it. The past year has been such a transition for me and I've had to pretty much rewrite who I am, to myself and to others. I am now working at a dead end job, trying to make it by and going to school for something I am passionate about. I feel like I've been such a robot lately and not really enjoying every moment that I'm in and that frustrates me. We always think that the grass is going to be greener on the other side, but truth is once you get there, there's always greener grass. I don't want to look forward to the weekends anymore, I want to enjoy everyday. I'm not one hundred percent sure how I'm going to achieve this, but I'm sure as hell going to try.

I've learned a lot about myself since my boyfriend and I transitioned into a long distance relationship. When you're so far away from someone for quite a long period of time (2 months is a long time for me) you begin to realize that when you're with them that you enjoy EVERY moment, I sometimes catch myself taking photos in my mind to capture some moments; like when he wraps his arms around me to hug me, I almost take a screen shot of the feeling of his hands on my back, his smell, what the embrace feels like just so I can replay it when we're apart again. It's so special to see someone for the first time in such a long time and I absolutely love that feeling. I've never been so excited about anything before, love does crazy things to you sometimes I guess.

Where was I going with that little tangent, ah yes, loving every moment. Sometimes I'll find myself in situations where I'm unhappy, or not where I want to be and I'll think about someone who wishes they were in my place. For instance, when I'm sitting at work and have to listen to someone else complain about how bad they have it in life, all I can think about in that situation is at least I have a job. Things could be so much worse than they are at that moment. We've all had bad situations happen to us, bad circumstances, bad days, but hopefully things do get better. I want to have a more positive outlook that allows me to really appreciate every day.

It's definitely been difficult rewriting who Bridget Wilding is after all that has transpired over the last 2 or so years, but I'm getting there. I definitely know who I'm not and I think that's a good start.

Onto better days, more positive thoughts and lots more love.

Hope you are well.

Love always, Bridget
